Strain Transducer X-106

particularly suitable for cyclic applications

For accurate measurements of recurring, rapid force cycles

Cyclic applications describe recurring, rapid cycles of force. In cyclic applications it is important that the zero point is tared at regular intervals in order to exclude drifting of the measuring signal. Thanks to the digital input, the zero point adjustment can be conveniently taught in via the control.

The Strain Sensor can be used for the following applications:

  • Monitoring and documentation of process forces for increased process reliability
  • Limit value monitoring to avoid overloads
  • Control of holding forces

Our Strain Transducers reliably measure even the smallest strains on the surface of flat structures. Despite the simple screw-on mounting, the measured values are comparable to glued-on strain gauges, avoiding their disadvantages. Thanks to the integrated, extremely low-noise and highly stable signal Amplifier, the Sensors have an enormous dynamic range.

Properties:

  • Analogue signal path with fast response time
  • For cyclical applications with external reset or tare control input for automatic zero-point adjustment 🠖 Suitable for periodic zero-point adjustment processes
  • Permanent storage of zero-point adjustment even in case of power failure, without limitation of taring processes
  • Monitoring and documentation of process forces for increased process reliability
  • Protected mounting away from moving parts
  • Integrated measuring amplifier with either ± 10 V or 4-12-20 mA as a robust output signal

Measuring principle

How it works

The Strain Sensor X-106 detects the strain between the two screw-on surfaces and amplifies it mechanically. This concentrates the strain on the Strain Sensor, where it is recorded by a strain gauge measuring bridge. The integrated measuring Amplifier takes care of the signal processing and provides a uniform and robust output signal.

The process forces that occur can be easily calculated via the measured strains on the machine component. This makes it easy to measure and monitor process forces. Regardless of the nominal forces, Strain Transducers are very compact in dimensions and easy to install. Since the Sensors are installed on the machine part outside the working space, they are an elegant alternative to conventional Force Sensors even when space is limited.

Zero point taring

Zero adjustment is performed by a digital zero adjustment mechanism and is permanently and captively stored. A non-volatile, stable zero point is available regardless of cycle times. Therefore, the Strain Sensor is suitable for all dynamic applications. The X-106 can be used in all applications that require a periodic Process-Tare.

Zero adjustment is triggered via an external reset, or tare control input. The mechanism is available with “Active Low” and “Active High” logic.
