Strain sensor for harsh environments with protection class IP68
Strain sensors with switchable measuring range are very flexible and universally applicable for different nominal strain ranges.
The option “switchable measuring range” was specially designed for a wide range of application covering: Four pre-calibrated measuring ranges (62.5 μm/m, 125 μm/m, 250 μm/m, 500 μm/m) can be selected with a digital input.

Installation-Zero und Process-Zero – Zero point adjustment of strain sensors at X-Sensors
The zero point adjustment can be triggered via the PLC. If the input is pulled to >10 V, the signal is set to zero (reset) and the zero point adjustment is carried out.
The zero point adjustment is carried out by a digital zero adjustment mechanism. The zero point adjustment is stored permanently, it is not lost after a power off.

The zero-point adjustment is carried out by a digital zero-point adjustment mechanism. The zero-point adjustment is stored within the sensor. But it should be noted that the zero point is not stored in the event of a power cut-off.
Strain sensors without integrated zero point adjustment are suitable for static and dynamic applications.
The fit between the strain sensor and the machine component varies slightly from assembly to assembly. As a result, the zero point and the span from installation to installation is minimal different. For this reason, it is important to tare the zero offset after installing the strain transducers. Since the strain transducer without zero-point adjustment do not have an integrated mechanism for this purpose, the zero-point correction can be easily performed in the controller instead.
The zero point adjustment can be triggered via the PLC. If the input is pulled to <3 V, the signal is set to zero (reset) and the zero point adjustment is carried out.
The zero point adjustment is not saved permanently. This means that the zero adjustment requires a periodic “update”. Therefore, this mechanism is only suitable dynamic applications with cycle times <30 seconds.
